Elizabeth stared at the back door of the abandoned house that she was living in. The house was rather dilapidated. The windows were all boarded up and the doors were worn and barely shut. Still Elizabeth was happy with it, she didn't have to speak with her parents. After what they did to Gaven, she didn't think she could forgive them. I'm not suppose to have loved him, I broke the law. I'm lucky to be alive, she thought. Elizabeth ran her fingers threw her curly blonde hair. Her stomach growled slightly. Time to hunt.
Elizabeth opened the door, stepped outside, and checked for any people. No one in sight. She felt her flesh ripple and felt her animal instincts take over. Elizabeth stood down on her front legs, and felt the long spotted tail grow from her spine. She felt right. The leopard looked around, her eyes oddly blue. Elizabeth scented. Deer. Not her favorite kill, but it'd do. She padded toward the creature, her paws silent. As the deer came into view, Elizabeth judged the distance and how best to hunt it. If she moved closer, the deer would scent her, but she couldn't make a fair leap from this far away. Elizabeth saw her answer, she picked up a branch and quickly scaled a tree. She dropped the branch, and the deer's head shot up. It scented, not scenting anything, stepped toward the source of the noise curiously. Perfect! Elizabeth thought. Waiting. Waiting. As the deer came into her range, Elizabeth pushed away from the tree with power hind legs. She hit the deer and quickly made her kill.
Elizabeth ran, on four legs, to her home. As she neared the door, she looked around and scenting. Still no one. She changed back, the tail disappearing leaving her spine feeling unfinished. Elizabeth combed threw her blonde hair and reached for her door knob.

The trees cast shadows on the ground as a lone wolf ran. Ellie would have normally gone to hunt with Milo, If only the fur-brain had thought of waking me up when he went out this morning. She thought, she would have normally ‘laughed’ at that if she wasn’t carrying her cow-girl hat in her jaws. There was probably a reason her brother didn’t wake her though, maybe he was afraid she’d hit him in the back of the head, roll over, and go right back to sleep. She did that the last time he woke her, But that time was 4 am in the morning and I hadn’t gone to bed until after midnight. I need more then four hours of sleep, I’m not the kind of person who naps later on. She shook her head before taking in the scents around her. Deer, Lots of Deer. She noted, before heading out in a random direction. As soon as she got into eyesight of a doe, she set down her hat before she attacked, ignoring the pain of the deer kicking her with its hooves. After a while of fighting she killed her meal.
After she was done eating she tried to clean her snowy white muzzle of blood, annoyed when it wouldn’t come completely off. Great, just great. She thought, shuddering and turning back to her human form. She started to run her fingers through her blonde hair before leaning over to put her cow-girl hat on her head. As soon as it was in place she walked away from the dead body. She wasn’t sure where she was going; she just had to get away from the half-eaten body. That’s why I go eat with Milo. Next hunt will be different. She comforted herself, normally she wasn’t so soft-hearted. Maybe it was because she wasn’t able to eat it all. It’s not my fault I didn’t have him to finish it. She shook her head, she hadn’t been paying attention to her surroundings until she saw a run-down house and a girl. She turned around to leave when she actually stepped on a twig. SNAP Ellie sighed, turning around to face the person.

Elizabeth's leopard ears picked up the sound of a snapping twig. Actually human ears would have picked up that noise. She whipped around, on the defensive. Elizabeth's blue eyes were blazing with animal instincts. Every muscle in her body was screaming to attack. Wait, calm down, scent the air, find out what this person is, she had to remind herself. Elizabeth drew in air sharply. The scents of the crisp pine and the cool breeze filled her lungs. Emanating from the person was a strong scent of wolf. It's a puppy, how cute! Elizabeth thought. She was only kidding, of course. Werewolves and Shapeshifters were very similar, and both hated vampires and lamia with a passion. Once, werewolves and shapeshifters shared an ancestor, so that kind of made them family. At least, in a very round-about way...
Elizabeth scrutinized the girl's appearance. She was pretty, like all those of the Night World. She was blonde, and had the look of a stereotypical cheerleader(lol). Well, I could pull off cheerleader as well I suppose... Elizabeth thought. The only reason she never got into the whole cheerleading thing was mostly because she was small. That would put her on the top of the pyramid, and if she did fall, Elizabeth would land on her feet, silently, gracefully, and unharmed. That would be much too suspicious. Nevertheless, Elizabeth smiled a small smile. "Hi there, I'm Elizabeth Heart, and this is my home," she said with a grin.

Ellie’s muscles tensed up, ready to defend herself if the other person decided to attack. She took in the air around her, Leopard Shapeshifter. She noted, remembering the big-cat’s scent from the time her parents took her to a small zoo in the mountains. If I remember right, they closed that place up for mistreating the animals. She mused, blinking before looking down at the snow-covered ground. Snow-man weather. thought, a slight smile formed on her lips. She looked at the ground for a few more moments before she looked back up at Elizabeth.
Ellie blinked, not even noticing Elizabeth examining her appearance. She shifted her weight, running her fingers through her hair and double checking her cow-girl hat was just right. She smiled at the other girl, I wonder if she thinks I’m a cheerleader, A lot of people do. She pondered, She could have easily been a cheerleader – that is if she went to a public school. Ellie’s parents had decided to homeschool her, just in case something ever happened. “Hello, I’m Ellie Gapper. I’m sorry for wandering so close to your home, I wasn’t aware anyone lived in the area.” She replied, smiling back at Elizabeth.

Elizabeth looked around again, nervous for any sign of human. She didn't have anything against werewolves, but sometimes their temper could get the best of them. If the wolf attacked, Elizabeth would have no choice, but to defend herself. Any human who saw the wolf and leopard fighting would have to be killed, and Elizabeth hated killing. She only killed animals...
Elizabeth pulled the slender silver chain from around her neck. A dully worn key hung from the chain. The delicacy of the chain was greatly out looked by the bulk of the old key, but Elizabeth didn't care. She quickly pressed the key into the lock and twisted it. The tumbler gave a quick click! as it was unlocked. Elizabeth opened the door. "It's no trouble at all, won't you come in?" she asked, and stepped aside to make room for Ellie to enter. Elizabeth wasn't afraid that Ellie would judge her home, even though it wasn't in the best condition. She would understand that the home wasn't Elizabeth's first choice...

Ellie smiled at Elizabeth, “There shouldn’t be any humans in the area, Miss Heart. Anyway I feel quite calm at the moment, I may be a werewolf and I may have a temper but I have no reason nor need to attack you.” She looked around nervously in case any human’s were in the area. “Anyway, I’ve been on a animal diet since I was a child, I’m probably weaker then I should be.” She wasn’t sure if this was true, She didn’t fight with anyone. Maybe a little wrestle with her brother over a deer heart once and a while but those always ended on good terms with no major injures. A few bruises on a bad day.
“I’ve never seen anything like that before. My family doesn’t have locks on our house…” Ellie looked amazed at the old key. She blinked twice, It’s still there, It didn’t disappear. She told herself. She nodded to Elizabeth, walking closer to the house. “You can go first Miss. Thank you for inviting me in.” She smiled at the shapeshifter. That was when she got a better look at the house, it wasn’t in the best shape but it was still live-able. It most-likely was pretty back in the day, It just needs a little TLC and then it will be back to tip-top shape. Word Count: 252 Muse : Could be better Tags : Elizabeth

Elizabeth smiled at the werewolf. She was silly and made Elizabeth chuckle. She hadn't heard anyone call her miss since, well ever. "Please, call me Elizabeth," she said. Elizabeth was prepared to insist, she rather liked the wolf. Elizabeth adjusted the brown top, making sure the little pulls in the fabric covered her. That was the only issue she had with the shirt, it tended to be a bit revealing. Not that it matters, I never have guests out here. Oh, except for now, she said. The only thing that Elizabeth couldn't do as a proper host was offer her guest something to eat. Elizabeth didn't keep food in her house. There was something about the smell of rotting organs that she didn't enjoy... "What? This old key? You have never seen a key?" Elizabeth asked, amazed. Keys were old hat to her, she'd used one since she was 5. Elizabeth nodded at the wolf, decided it would be more trouble to argue about the manners of allowing the guest to go first, then it was worth. "Oh, it's no problem at all. Please, make yourself at home, it's a little dirty and is falling apart in some places, but that's what I get for leaving my parent's house with no money..."

“Alright Elizabeth.” Ellie nodded. When she saw Elizabeth adjust her top she slightly smiled, “Don’t you hate it when that happens?” She asked, I sure hate it when it happens to me. And it doesn’t help when Milo tells me when father doesn’t pay attention to stuff like that – cause when dad hears it he flips out. She sighed at her thought before paying her attention back to the leopard. “Never, There’s no need for them in a house with no locks. Mum never thought we needed locks since they only keep out honest people.” She answered, tilting her head slightly. She then nodded, following the other girl inside. I don’t think I could leave my family, My father would lose his sanity. He’s never been the same since mum passed. The thought made her sad at the reality of the situation. If something happened to her brother or her, even if they just moved out, the man would break. “That’s alright, All homes can get a little dirty at times.” She didn’t ask why she left her family, It’s probably different then mine. "I do hate it, although it usually doesn't matter all that much out here by myself..." Elizabeth said, but broke off toward the end. Elizabeth thought about Ellie's honest people statement for a moment. It made sense in someway, but wasn't it the honest people she was trying to keep out? Considering her house didn't exactly have functional stairs, someone would have to wonder how she got up and down the stairs... Leopard legs, Elizabeth thought, but she couldn't exactly tell the investigating police that. Any human that entered her home would have to be killed, and she didn't exactly like such violence. "I suppose that makes sense, unless it's the innocently honest that one is trying to keep out," Elizabeth explained. Her face had darkened at the thought of killing, so she knew that Ellie would know.
"Dirty? That is an understatement," Elizabeth explained. It was hard to explain why your kitchen had a huge hole in the middle of the floor... Elizabeth looked up at the cracked ceiling. "This place is what we call falling apart..."

Ellie nodded, “It probably wouldn’t matter at my home if I didn’t have my brother, My father doesn’t lecture me until Milo tells me to fix my shirt…” She responded, she pressed her lips together when Elizabeth actually had to think about her statement about honest people. “That does make sense, but Elizabeth, what innocently honest person would enter a home, even if it doesn’t look like someone is living there, without being invited inside?” She asked, she had noticed the other girl’s face darken. She dislikes killing humans as much as I do. She realized, Which, I agree with her, you shouldn’t take a innocent life for no good reason., especially when there are other choices.
She followed the shapeshifter’s gaze up to the ceiling, “It maybe falling apart but it is fixable, if you can find the right materials you can fix it back to tip-top shape..” She started, trailing off as she looked around the room. Well, we can’t replace the glass in the windows without money but we can fix any wooden floors. There’s plenty trees outside and dad has one of those axes… yeah that could work. I think Dad has a can or two of white paint left from when we painted the house last year…
A male wolf’s nose was pressed against the ground, he knew he was acting like a dog when he did this but he didn’t care about his appearance. He was too busy looking for his sister, Ellie, to care about little things he didn’t give a whoop about anyhow. He walked past the half eaten deer, feeling guilty about leaving her behind for the morning hunt. He stopped walking when he reached an old run-down house, shifting into his human form. He didn’t dare enter, he wasn’t let in and it would be rude to enter one’s home without permission. Let alone not very honest.
Ellie’s gaze flew right to a ‘window.’ Through it she could see her brother, Milo. “If one mentions their brother their brother appears.” Word Count: 383 Muse : Good for Ellie, Not the best for Milo Tags : Elizabeth

Elizabeth shrugged. If an innocently honest person entered her dilapidated house, saw something they shouldn't, Elizabeth would have to kill them. Shapeshifter's telepath only worked when they were the animal closest to the person heart. Elizabeth wasn't like a leader. She had very little option, all she had to go with was a clouded leopard. It happened once, and that was cool, she thought, remembering the little girl in the toy store. She was adorable and had the curliest red hair.
Elizabeth just sat on the bench outside that store and listened to her thoughts as she raced about the store, playing with one toy after another. Not surprising, the little girl asked her dad for the stuffed leopard. If she had been born a shapeshifter, Elizabeth's thoughts had begun. She'd have been a leopard, no doubt about that. She quickly left, not wanting to be seen by the girl. Her little ringlets bounced as she walked to the counter. Elizabeth had to leave though, if she had stayed, the little girl would have leopard in the way she moved, held herself, and even looked.
Snapping back to the reality, Elizabeth looked at the blonde werewolf. Why had she been polite in the first place? Elizabeth didn't enjoy werewolves anymore then she enjoyed humans... Although humans were worse, they were vermin. She just shook her head. "I like it falling apart, it's more forbodding, keeps some of the innocent away. I don't want to kill them..." Elizabeth replied. She wasn't planning on fixing her house; she'd found it this way, and she intended to keep it this way.
The sound of sniffing quickly reached Elizabeth's ears. Her leopard instincts screamed "Intruder, kill!" Fire reached her ice blue eyes. "Excuse me," she said, her voice tight. Elizabeth felt her flesh ripple. Paws grew and her muscles tightened as if they were put in a sheath Her muzzle stretched and her flank sprouted spotted fur. Her spine grew several more lengths, extended off her back, creating her tail. Elizabeth felt complete. But her transformation wasn't complete. She was still a human, but she had cat ears, tail, and fuzzy spotted fur along the length of her body.
Cautiously, Elizabeth sniffed the air. It smelt like a dog. Another werewolf, she thought. What has this world come to? Well, this werewolf was intruding on her property. It had probably followed her or Ellie's scent, and it probably meant to kill them. As Elizabeth was about to burst out the door snarling she heard Ellie speak.
"If one mentions their brother, their brother appears."
Her brother, Elizabeth thought. He wouldn't mean harm to either of them. Elizabeth didn't want to shift back just yet though. She would open the door as she was, and see if she could tame her own beast. Elizabeth tossed open the door. "Are you coming in or no?" she asked with mild venom in her voice.

Ellie held back a frustrated sigh; Elizabeth really didn’t see her point. No honest person would walk into anyone’s home without permission. It was an unwritten law, or maybe it was written somewhere, there most likely was a law about trespassing on someone’s home. She tilted her head in thought; oh how she suddenly she wished she had paid attention to laws for the people with no common sense.
“Your right, No one truly innocent would be going inside a run down house.” She allowed, It’s not worth arguing with her about whether one innocent would enter one’s home. She faced down, staring at her shoes without uttering another word about the subject.
Ellie’s head shot up when the shapeshifter spoke; she took a good whiff of the air. Her nose wasn’t as good as her wolf’s but she did smell wet dog. Who got the wolf wet without spraying perfume on them. She held back a smirk, she knew what her brother would do to her if she even suggested the idea. If he takes ‘my’ heart at the next meal, I’ll forever and always make sure I eat the heart before he even realizes it’s his turn.
Milo tensed up for a few moments, expecting the shapeshifter to attack him. He nodded his head up and down, silently saying yes to her question, before walking past the leopard-girl to his sister’s side. He leaned his head down to whisper to his sister, “Where the shifter come from?” He whispered quickly to his sister. He turned his gaze to Elizabeth and smiled at her. She’s kinda… well… pretty…
“Elizabeth, This my brother Milo Gapper. Milo, this is Elizabeth Heart.” The blonde werewolf informed the two before turning to whisper to her brother; “Ello Milo, she came from the same place all baby’s do. From they’re mothers, doof.” She teased to him, playfully punching his arm. She then rolled her eyes at her brother.
He nodded to Elizabeth, "It's a pleasure to meet you." He said before turning to his sister. “If dad finds out…” He whispered back to her, shaking his head. He was expecting her to come out with a “Then lets not tell dad!” but the words didn’t come out of her mouth, she just looked up at him blankly. He nodded, “We shouldn’t tell dad, Thank you for the idea Ellie.” He spoke at a normal tone now, nudging her shoulder.
Ellie gave him another blank look, “What idea Milo?” She asked, confusion still in her voice. “Never mind.” Word Count: 487 Tags : Elizabeth

Elizabeth nodded to Ellie, still on the topic of innocents. She chose not to respond however. Sometimes a discussion went to the point of stupidity.... Foolishness, she corrected in her thoughts. Not stupidity, foolishness... Elizabeth tried to calm herself. To return herself from the point of her half form. Elizabeth hated that form, she felt she herself was a monster... Taking deep breaths, Elizabeth felt her ears and tail slid back into her body. Elizabeth felt compressed and not natural. Was this how all shapeshifters felt?
Elizabeth just stared as the two siblings bantered back and forth. She kinda of wished she had had a sibling to grow up with, but she was also glad that she didn't. She was glad that she'd had a decent life, at least until.... No, Elizabeth told herself. Don't think about that. You may have broke one of the laws, so things worked out in the end.... I suppose that I wish it had been different....
Elizabeth smiled at the wolf boy. "Nice to meet you too," she said. Although I suppose I would have survived without a similar meeting.... Elizabeth wasn't exactly thrilled about about meeting a werewolf, let alone two. Dad? I haven't seen my dad in a year... Elizabeth thought to herself, but she choose not to say anything....

Ellie smiled at Elizabeth, holding back a sigh of relief when the leopard shapeshifter didn’t reply about the innocent topic. It was starting to be a pointless discussion, the topic wasn’t going anywhere. She tilted her head at the other girl when her ears and tail slid back into her body, I wonder how it feels, being a cat, with that long tail and all…. Wow I really need a life. She pondered slightly before scolding herself for such a stupid question. For once I feel… well… like a stereotypical blonde… She sighed at the thought.
Milo laughed at his sister, ruffling up her hair with a huge smile on his face. He turned his smile to Elizabeth when he noticed her staring. Must not have any siblings… or close pup-like ones at least. He noted, turning to smile at Ellie again. She’s such a child sometimes, so innocent…. If only she was easier to keep an eye on, I could protect her easier… He thought, ruffling his sister’s hair again, messing it up even more. He already knew she didn’t care if he messed up her hair, obviously a raw-animal-meat-diet had gave her some excuse to not be vain… or maybe it was just the fact that Ellie had Milo for a brother which made her the way she was.
He smiled again at the leopard-girl, nodding. Right, I’m no idiot, I know that it would be much easier on all of us if I had woke Ellie up when I went hunting. He thought, putting a protective arm around Ellie’s shoulder. He held back a eye-roll when she ducked out from under his arm with a ‘Ha, I win’ smile. Ellie beamed at both of them, “See, It’s nice to see all of us are getting along!” She clapped her hands together excitedly. Word Count: 342

Elizabeth forced a smile on her delicate face. She could tell, that despite the obvious age difference, Ellie was more naive in the ways of the world then she. Elizabeth knew full well what this meeting would mean for their futures. They would be expected to watch each other's back, as the two wolves entered Elizabeth's own territory, yet she did not challenge them. Then again, if the werewolves went to war against the shapeshifters they'd be expected to fight for their own species.... It was quite complex, and Elizabeth hated when her life became complex... It was bad enough when she loved Gaven, still loved Gaven... I do have to thank my parents for one thing: I don't have to worry about my own life for my feelings. I'm aloud to love a dead human, she thought with a weak inward smile.
Despite her thoughts of simplicity, Elizabeth couldn't shake the feeling that this meeting wasn't just chance. It felt like some force greater then any that she'd ever known had brought her to welcome the first, and probably the only, Night creature into her territory. "So, um, you guys want something to drink?" Elizabeth asked, remembering some of her parents hosting mannerisms. "I've got water, and well, water..." Elizabeth went over to the old fashioned ice box and extracted a pitcher of water. She held it aloft with a questioning look across her Night beautiful features. If any human were to look inside the run-down home they'd see three of the most beautiful people they'd probably ever seen. Of course, it wouldn't be known that they were staring at a bunch of human-hating, human-killing, wolves and leopard... Word Count;; 313 Muse;; Woot! Tags;; Milo, Ellie
