It was early dawn. The snow was an inch on the ground. Nightfall padded confidently ahead of his apprentice. He reached his personal training spot. That most warriors would consider the worst training spot.
It was the only area in Shadowclan that had small undergrowth. It had very little but still some ferns. He stopped right next to a large pine tree. He turned to face his new apprentice. He said in a calm smooth voice. "You may be wondering why we came her to train. For this area is not the training ground. This is my personal training ground. You will be trained her no matter what the other warriors say. You are to figure out what you are to do on your own. If you fail I will mark this tree here." He pointed with his tail at the large pine to the right of him. There was claw marks in it. The markings of all his apprentice failures.
He moved his tail away form the tree and continued. "Now I want you to understand. You may switch mentors right now. I am the most hardest mentor of all of them. I train my apprentices till there bodies can't take no more. I've had a weak apprentice that had to go into the Medicine den everyday. Till finally he got so fed up he quit. You will I guarantee have a hard time under me."It was how I was taught.... He kept his green eyes straight at the small she-cat in front of him. He wanted her to know he was being serious. He was not planning on telling her he can teach her more techniques and moves then that of other mentors. That he in fact new more moves then most clan cats.
Well... Darkenedshadow.. I am training yet another one.. The leader obviously likes and dislikes me. I wish I could talk to you once more. You where important to me.. However you lied and traitored me. You made me kill my own clanmate. I hate you so much.

Lynxpaw had trotted behind her mentor silently, trudging through the wet, cold, snow. Her eyes widened when they reached the training spot. As much as she knew this was not where apprentice’s trained.
It seemed like it would be a good place to think, there was a few ferns and a large pine tree. This was, however, most likely not the best place to train. It would probably be used more if it was a very good training spot. She nodded, listening silently. “I could tell it wasn’t the training ground everyone uses, Sir.” She whispered, before staring at the tree. There was a lot of claw marks in it, Well that won’t stop me, I’m going to succeed, I will figure out what I need to do to earn my warrior name alone, and I will make my family proud of me. I refuse to allow any other cat tell me otherwise. She thought, determined to prove herself to her mentor and her clan.
She tried to keep an emotionless face when he brought up switching mentors though there was a hint of amusement in her eyes that she could not stop from being seen. “I have no plan of asking for a change in mentor, Nightfall. I will not quit, nor will I be as weak as that apprentice.” She met his gaze, “I already now I will have a hard time, I’m expecting it. Having a hard time will most-likely make me a better warrior, I will know what to expect before the other apprentices will in battle.” She blinked, breaking away from his green gaze. Nightfall nodded and though silently, time to began. He braced himself to charge at her without a word. He gathered himself and headed straight at her with intensive speed. He was side stepping here and there. He was one her extremely quick. Not as fast as a Windclan cat. However fast enough o catch one untrained as her off guard. He then quick moved his right paw to strike at her. This was to where he was testing her instinct and reflexes. He wanted to see if she will attack, dodge, or get hit.
"Now be prepared for he worst, Nightpaw." Said a large black tom with a white puff on his chest. He quickly got up and charged at the small puff ball of fur. The puffball of black fur gave a squeak and had gotten hit smack on his muzzle. He was not fast enough... "Hmm.. You have terrible reflexes. You are fat and lazy. Your a kitty-pet." The black puffball squeaked in a high unsecured voice. "No I'm not! You just didn't tell me what to do." The tom eyes flashed dangerously. He then spoke in a cruel cruel voice. "Will your enemy tell you when they are to attack? Well will they!"
The apprentice drew back scared. He could see his tiny short tail quivering. He was afraid deadly afraid. "No-no.. Sir..... I eer... Eep!" The mentor had picked up the bundle and threw him right into a fern near by. The apprentice was dazed for several seconds. Till eventually he crawled out of the fern. To see his mentor charging at him. This time he had dodged under the tom's stomach and turned to face the tom. His breathing was quick and rasping breathes.
The tom stopped after a few feet and faced the apprentice again. "Good. Your pathetic body dodged. Now attack me." The small apprentice was confused by the training... He understood none of it. This had lasted all day till dawn.
The mentor walked up to the black fur on the ground. It looked dead. "Well Nightpaw. Welcome to your worst dreams." The mentor calmly picked up the bundle in his teeth and walked the apprentice home. To where he gently placed the sleeping black furball in his den. Before turning to leave. "We have much work to do.. My first apprentice." Said the black cat.

Lynxpaw hadn’t been expecting Nightfall to attack her, but she quickly recovered. Her mentor was fast but she was a tad bit faster, her father was a Windclan cat. She hated it when anyone brought up her father or her mixed blood, though it was pretty helpful at the moment. When his paw shot out she dodged it, barely missing the blow. She watched him with narrowed eyes for a second or two, before attacking him with seethed claws.
She stopped mid-attack, tilting her head at her mentor. He seemed a little out of it, “Nightfall?” She asked, confused at what was happening.

Nightfall watched her as she dodged and got ready to attack again. He turned dot her and said in a calm smooth voice ignoring her confused look. "Attack me with all you got." Now this was to see how much she actually, truly knew. He cared not for blood. That was one of the many things that marked his metnor as a fool.
He padded away form her and waited calmly to come and attack him. He wasn't gonna use any tricks or special techniques. This is just practice till sunset. There were more days to come. Today howevre was just a test day.

Lynxpaw smiled at her mentor, “I was just about to, You just seemed a little out of it though.” She replied, before padding in the direction opposite of him. Her paw-steps where silent as she stalked around the forest, when she could see his back she sprung onto her mentor’s back, gripping his shoulders with slightly unsheathed claws. They were only unsheathed enough to keep her grip, not to harm him. She released her left paw from his fur, sheathing the claws on that paw and whacking him softly in the head. One could tell she was trying to be gentle with her mentor, that she would be tougher in an actual battle. She batted him the head again, smiling a little. Word Count: 131 Muse : Could be better Notes: Try the drop-and-roll attack on her, It would get her off of his back and catch her really off-guard.

Nightfall dropped won to the ground acting as if she had won the battle. Then he rolled over. Grabbed the skin on the abck of her neck, in a split second. He pulled her up with ease and tossed her a fox length away. He then hid underneath a underbrush waiting for her to find him. While he was planning in his head how to attack her quickly. His fur blended in with the shadows of the undergrowth. The sun was starting to set. He would have to play a different way with her. She was obviously already very good in fighting skills. He'll have to think smart. He decided to stay underneath the undergrowth till she finds his scent. Then he would pounce on her as a cat would pounce a mouse. Then go the the pine tree with the scratches and climb up by the ladder branches. Then simply jump on beside her if she didn't notice him climbing the tree and hiding behind the pines. If she does notice he'll have to strike her and tell her afterward it was an "aerial tactic".

Lynxpaw had smiled in triumph; that is until he rolled over, basically squashed her, and then threw her a fox-length away. She had, surprisingly, landed on her feet. She turned her head, noticing the setting sun, Does time fly so fast? She asked herself before shaking her head, returning her focus to the training session. Nightfall’s scent hit her nose very suddenly, like the wind had purposely sent it her way. I got you now. Her thoughts teased, crouching like she would hunt a mouse. She moved towards his scent, silently cursing the fact her pelt stuck out like a sore thumb while her mentor’s blended with the shadows. She scanned the shadows for his green eyes, ready to defend a surprise attack.
She just hoped he wouldn’t catch her off-guard… again Word Count: 146

Nightfall laid out the plan in his head over and over. He watched as his apprentice was looking aorund for him. She was probably cursing his black pelt right now. It may get hot easily, however it pays in sneak attacks. He jumped from a shrub that was on her left. He jumped just high enough over her small body. He turned and charged right at her. Then making a turn at teh alst minute and hid behind a rock. From there he stealthily headed toward his scratch oak. To where he climbed on top and watched silently behind some pine needles in teh tree four fox lengths off the ground. He may be a Shadowclan cat and was suppose to be ground bound. However, he believed that all cats had indiviuality in there personality. His was to use things cats would think absolutely ridicules. They're thoughts were his advantage.
He was seating on teh limb watching his apprentice wonder around him and the rock he had jumped at. She was obviously getting frustrated. She might actually be an intresting apprentice. One who he would have to make frustrated and angered. One who would in the end hate him. However, would actually improve higher than his other apprentices after a few terrible beatings.
Well Darkenedshadow..You said to be creative with my moves. I guess you were right. One would have to make up as they go along. With the original attacks and moves in there minds.

Lynxpaw tensed up, watching amused when he jumped over her. She was ready to defend herself when her mentor had magically disappeared behind. Foxdug! She thought, shaking her head. This confusing game was annoying her, greatly. He’s just trying to make me the best warrior I can be. She told herself, though the thought didn’t help at all. From what I’ve seen today he’s going to try something other cats wouldn’t… but what? She pondered, searching around for him.
After a while of looking she grew from annoyed to frustrated, Though she wasn’t giving up. She was determined to find her mentor, even if she had to search until she starved to death. With a sigh she looked up at the sky, planning on looking at the sunset for a moment in case it disappeared before she found her mentor, until she saw a cat-like form in the tree-of-failure. “Oh, There you are Nightfall. I would have never thought of looking there! That might be a good way to attack someone…” She smiled before getting into a defensive position. “Care to attack me? I want to see if I can defend myself.”
Having Nightfall as her mentor was defiantly was going to be an experience. Word Count: 229 Muse : Awaiting for my mentor to attack

Nightfall could not help but grin. "Ah so you found me before sunset." He got up form his limb and stretched. He was purposefully taking his time. He twitched his ears in thought of how to attack at her. He stood up on all fours and climbed a little lower so not to hurt himself. He then figured the best way to attack her was to jump to her right side and take at the behind. She probably doesn't expect that.. Then again.. She figured out I am thinking. Good... She shall be a great warrior.
He jumped from the branch after what seemed like a long time. The sun was almost on sunset. He didn't go with the side moved like he planned. In fact he went outward her head on. He landed right in front of her and went to dodge her attack. Then went to aim at her side. Claws sheath of course.

Lynxpaw smiled in response to his grin, “Good thing to, Trying to find you in the dark would be a nightmare.” She watched his movements, awaiting a attack. She could tell he was thinking of ways to attack her as he climbed down a little so he wouldn’t hurt himself. Good thing’s he’s not going to try jumping from a high point, I don’t want to have my training delayed because of a hurt mentor. She thought to herself.
It seemed like forever when Nightfall jumped out of the tree. It’s almost sun-set. She thought worriedly. She sighed when he dodged the attack she sent into action when he landed. Though when he aimed at her side she dodged his attack, perfect 'pay-back'. She then tryed the front-paw strike on him – making sure her claws were sheathed. He’s probably going to dodge it, I’m not that well-trained and he’s a warrior. She thought, before clearing her head of it's thoughts. The only thoughts she needed was plans to attack and defend herself. Word Count: 198 Muse : Dodge and Attack, I just need to watch my back

Nightfall movements where flawless. he loved how his apprentice was prepared for anything possible. When she went to attack him he didn't bother dodging. He allowed her to make the attack. When she got her winning strike he pulled back from the fight. He started to laugh. When he was done he looked directly at her. "Well it is sunset. We best to be heading back. Tomorrow will be actual training." He didn't bother waiting for the apprentice to reply. He just merely turned and started to head back to the camp.
When they got to camp he grabbed a small frog and went to eat alone. He did not bother to check to see if his apprentice was right behind him. He started to dig in calmly before planing to go to sleep in his den. When he was done he went to his den and went to sleep.
The dream had Nightfall running in total darkness. His senses were on high alert. He knew not what he was running from. Until he reached the edge of a huge water source. He saw the water and went to turn around. Only to find the land of which he ran was gone. All around him was his reflection.. It showed his scar on his shoulder.
The cat that stared back at him with that scar started to laugh madly. The laugh rung inside of Nightfall's ears. When the laugh finally subsided into an echo. A deep deep voice spoke. "What are you afraid of? Is it the scar or me, Darkenedshadow?" Nightfall felt his body collapse right then and there. When it did he was suddenly dropping in the waters. All around him was millions of flashbacks being replayed over and over. Him killing his mentor. Him training as an innocent apprentice. Him reliving the memories.... All around him... Laughing mad laughing... Darkenedshadow's voice and face....
Nightfall gasped and quickly shot right up form his horrible nightmare. It was right before early dawn. He went out of his den and checked the fresh-kill pile. All there was is a mall skinny mouse and very little morsel. He sighed and picked out the small skinny mouse. He swallowed it in one bite. Then silently told himself that leafbare was almost over.

Lynxpaw knew Nightfall was more then able to dodge her attack, it was clear that he had allowed the attack to hit him. When he pulled away and started laughing she tilted her head. Not understanding what was funny. She looked up at the sunset, “It’s a shame, I was enjoying this easy-going ‘training’.” She muttered to herself before padding after her mentor.
When she got to camp her brother Ashpaw had literally padded over to her, carrying a piece of prey that was about the size of a mouse when it wasn’t leaf-bare. The two siblings had shared the piece of prey before heading to the apprentice den where Silverpaw was already snoozing. The young she-cat then silently went to her nest and fell asleep.
Lynxpaw didn’t know why she was running, she just had to run. She really couldn’t see where she was going, there was pitch black. The rest of her senses, however, were on the edge. A single call of the wind caught her on the edge of attack, and the young she-cat didn’t want to admit it. Suddenly she came to a halt in a clearing where the only light was glowing mushrooms. There was a tom-cat sitting there, just waiting for her, with a twisted smirk on his lips.
“It took you so long to see me, Lynxpaw, my precious daughter.” He purred, running over to her. “Why don’t we train?” His words made her narrow her eyes, before she turned to leave. “I can teach you moves your mentor doesn’t know even.” He told her, She whipped her head around. “I. Don’t. Believe. You.” She responded, her response had defiantly made her father mad. “Fine, Though take this parting gift.” Darkcloud hissed, his claws glinted dangerously in the dimmed light. Before the she-cat could defend herself, he clawed her shoulder, shattering the dream.
Lynxpaw awoke to the smell of blood, What happened? That was only a dream, How did I get hurt? She thought confused, standing up and silently looking around. None of her denmates had awoken, she was thankful for this; odds are they would have sent her to the medicine cat den. Which she refused to go, anyway she didn’t have a story for this mysterious injury. She couldn’t tell someone that she got from a dream; they’d give her odd looks. She exited the den, looking around the clearing. When she saw Nightfall she was worried, I’m never going to be able to get out of camp and get my own cobwebs now. He’s going to send me to Darksky and I’m going to get questioned. She then ignored the thought, and her bleeding shoulder, and padding over to her mentor. “Good Morning Nightfall, How are you this morning?” Word Count: 504 Muse : Just woke up bleeding

Nightfall turned to see his apprentice walking up to him. He was shocked she was up. Well, until he noticed she was bleeding on the shoulder. He felt an uneasiness fall over him. Her blood reminded him greatily of his dream. He spoke as if nothing was wrong. "If you want we can leave now to train. After you eat of course." He padded away, ignoring her confused look. He needed time, to gether his thoughts.
He walked over to his favorite place in the camp. He spread his body on the ground and stared at the apprentice from afar. I wonder.. How did she get that scar... That is most defaintly a scratch on her shoulder. No point in asking her how she got it... She'll just give me lies. Similar to the way I would lie. She was attacked by a larger cat.. That much was obvious.. But how.. she doesn't look exhausted like she left camp.. Did she dream getting that mark? But how is that possible.... He twitched his tail in deep deep thought.
He figured that the hunting skill she'll teach her today will be the one he hated the most. The one that taught him how to use his natural pelt color, against the enemy. She will be at an advantage of course. However, she will still learn how to be light on her paws. That was always a good thing.
