I just thought I'd put this up here, because Night World is quite different on the vampire subject then Twilight, and most people have read Twilight and not Night World....
Lamia~
The Lamia are known as the 'Family Vampires'. The very first vampire, Maya(dead) was orignally a witch. But she had a quest for immportaility. Through the course of events, she gained her immortality but she must now drink the blood of a living creature every day. A Lamia, or any other vampire can only go five days without blood before the suffocate. The reason is, vampire blood cannot carry oxygen, so they drink human blood to get oxygen to their body... Lamia can have children, even the females. The lamia were born as vampires, meaning they were the children of either two lamia or ne lamia oand one witch, not a human or other creature. When feeding their fangs can extend all the way down to their chin, but not always that far. Their eyes can be any color, but they shine like an animals when a light is pointed into them. Lamia can stop or start their aging process as they please. They can only be killed by wood. All lamia must have an accessory or a tattoo of a black iris.
Made Vampires~
The Made Vampires are just as their names suggest, Vampires that are made by other vampires. They must also drink blood to gain oxygen. Vampires, unlike the Lamia, cannot have children, even the males. Fangs and eyes are similar to that of the Lamia, only their eye color can change when they become a vampire, but it does not have to be red or amber. When a made vampire is changed into a vampire they quite aging right then and there, no questions asked. They can only be killed by wood. All Made Vampires must have an accessory or a tattoo of a black rose.
Werewolfs~
Werewolfs are essiantally humans with another side of them that's a wolf. On full moons and New moons the werewolfs are their strongest, yet also their unstabalist. They are much lik animals and feed on other animals, but sometimes humans. Werewolfs essiantally feed off organs and flesh, not blood. They age like regular humans, and humans can be made into werewolfs in a process called Sharing Blood(to be discussed below). They can only be killed by silver. All werewolfs must have an accessory or a tattoo of a black foxglove.
Shapeshifters~
Shapeshifters are very similar to werewolves, as they are pretty much human. The only difference is that they are able to change into an animal. Most shapeshifters do not get to choose their form(however you do). Dragon shapeshifters are the rarest and most powerful of all shapeshifters. Shapeshifters age like regular humans, and can turn humans into shapeshifters in a process called Sharing Blood(see below). Shapeshifters can only be killed by silver and feed off flesh.
Witches~
Witches are just humans. Only they posses a strong power within them. Witches can control these powers, but mostly by use of herbs or other channeling devices. Femals witches are more common then mle witches. That origin of that fact is unknown. Witches are all decendense of Hellewise(dead), Maya's sister. Hellewise was a witch and remained through her life. She never became a vampire.The strongest witches are those in a direct female line from Hellewise, but those are very rare. All witches must have an accessory or a tattoo of a black dahlia.
Humans~
Humans are the simplest to explain of all the species. Humans are just like you and me, unless you happen to be some kind of vampire, in which I apologize for the inconvenience. The important thing is that humans do not know about the Night World, nor do they know about anything mentioned in this thread, except for other humans. Humans are the cause of many Night World assassinations, as if they find out about it they will be killed as will the Night World offender.
Soumates~
Soulmates are confusing. Different books say different things. But we are going by the Night World, so here is how it works. In the beginning there is a small attraction, a sort of feeling that one knows another well, despite it being their first time seeing them. To be sure a person is one's soulmate it takes direct contact of skin. In which case, electricity like feeling rushes up and down into one's body. It may effect the body quite a bit, but it affects the brain the most. Soulmates, that have found one another, can share thoughts and memories with one another. A soulmate may be forgotten about, in which case a person may go about life as if they've never found their soulmate, but if their soulmate finds them again and they remember, there really is no going back. They can resit, but they won't win in the end. The soulmate bond is the most powerful bond in the world. Not even Superman would be able to resit the bond of a soulmate. A person has one, and oly one, soulmate. Most never find theirs, but some do. Usually soulmates are found by lamia, vampires, werewolfs, witches, and shapeshifters. Esiantally by Night World characters. Soulmates are a gift as well as a burden.
Witch Circle Twilight~
Circle Twilight is considered to be 'good witches'. Really thought that is not always the case. A witch is classified as Circle Twilight because of the type of magic that they can preform. They can preform 'good' magic, or 'light' magic. Basically, simple spells that don't always cause prement damage.
Witch Circle Midnight~
Circle Midnight is considered to be 'bad witches'. Really though that is not always the case. A witches is classified as Circle Midnight based on the type of magic that they can preform. The preform 'bad' magic, or 'dark' magic. Basically their spells have more lasting effects then Circle Twilight.
Circle Daybreak~
This Circle is for all site species. Humans, Angels, Shadows, Lamia, and so on. They believe that the Night World should get along with the Secret Realms. Seeing as the Night World operates indepent of the Secret Realms. People with soulmates on the other side are reconmenmed to become a damned Daybreaker. The Night World wants to take over the Secret Realms, like their own side. And Circle Daybreak is trying to get peace.
Sharing Blood~
The process of Sharing Blood is how vampires and werewolfs are made. While werewolfs and Lamia and Shapeshifters can be born the way they are, made vampires have to be made this way. The vampire or werewolf or shapeshifter must drink the blood of the person to be changed. After the drink their blood, they must then have the changling(person being changed) drink their blood. This prevents a vampire or werewolf or shapeshifter accidently changing their prey.
Leaders~
All leaders are more powerful then regular species. Such as the alpha werewolves are bigger and stronger then a regular werewolf. The vampire and lamia leaders are faster and have stronger telepaths. The shapeshifter leaders are dragons. That means they can shift into any animal that they see.
Night World Laws~
The Night World has only two laws that must be abided by.
1) Never tell someone of the Day World about the Night World
2) Never fall in love with some of the Day World
These laws, if broken, are punishable by death.
