While he tends to always have a small lock-picking set on him, he does have a larger collection of eighteen or so tools that he brings on jobs. Oftentimes he'll improvise and use whatever's on hand; he finds a certain pleasure in using bizarre, unexpected objects to meet the various needs of a project.Description:
A dirty-blonde-haired teenager with tan and often dirty skin, Seth certainly doesn't look like a legal adult. He's a little on the small side - five-foot ten, if you're being generous, though closer to five-foot nine - but is wiry and stronger than he appears to be. The Tussen has delicate features, a rounded, boyish face, and dark cerulean eyes. He rarely smiles, though if he does it reveals, at first glance, near-perfect teeth that most likely had braces at one time or another.PB: None.
History:
Seth doesn't remember much of his past - or anything that happened before last week, typically, though there are a few exceptions.Personality:
His mother, someone he only remembers in the vaguest sense, was a prostitute. Men reeking of alcohol and sweat would occasionally breach the safe walls of the apartment - Seth would hide behind the sofa or in the linen closet - but most of the time it was just him, his mother, and her occasional friend wearing too much makeup and hairspray. They'd fuss over him, treating him to oversweet candies and cheap toys whenever possible.
Shortly after Seth turned six, this uneasy life lost its fragile safety: his mother never returned home one night - her behavior was erratic, but she was always back before he had to go to school the next morning - and he was too frightened to leave the apartment to search for her. After three days, the terrified child went out on his home to try and find her...
Within the hour he was clinging to a rather bewildered police officer, sobbing his little eyes out and tearfully trying to explain the situation. Seth was taken back to the station, where they found nothing to explain his mother's sudden absence. No one had filed a missing persons report, no bodies had been found matching her description... she might as well have vanished in thin air. Her son was tentatively entered into foster care, and the boy was shuffled from group home to group home for the next two years.
At age eight, Seth - who was starting to gain a reputation as a sneaky, pick-pocketing miscreant - was removed from group homes and sent to live with an elderly couple. It was more of an experiment than anything else; the couple didn't want to care for more than one child at a time, and they thought that perhaps the boy would do better in a smaller, less hectic environment. While it took him several months to adjust to the Aguirres - they always knew when he'd pocketed something he shouldn't have, and the boy was punished harshly no matter what the stolen good.
Eventually, though, his kleptomaniacal tendencies lessened - the punishments outweighed the benefits of having a shiny new novelty. They were much stricter than he was used to, with peculiar new rules, but he eventually came to adore the couple. Not only that, but they seemed to have dozens of friends who would coddle him, treating him to oversweet candies and expensive toys. They adopted him, though not after considerable difficulty - the facts that his mother had disappeared and that his father was unknown complicated everything, though eventually the paperwork was all filled out and straightened up.
That should have been his sappy happy ending, but of course nothing ever goes that smoothly.
When he was twelve - shortly after the adoption had been finalized, actually - the tentative peace was shattered. Police forced their way into the house with a search warrant, cracking down on a child pornography ring. At the sight of police battering their way into his sanctuary, Seth panicked and launched his less-than-intimidating self at one of the officers. As a result, he was dragged down to the police - they don't take being bitten kindly, apparently. The situation was exacerbated when they found the youth in a several of the documents seized.
After his time with the Aguirres, his fragmented recollections go from questionable to near nonexistent. When he was sisteen he escaped the system - not that it was partitcularly challenging - and survived off of what he could steal for a few weeks before finding a freelance hacker who, after his fervent pleadings, agreed to erase him from the system. Since then he's worked with Tussen, available whenever his services were necessary - no lock stays that way for long around him because of a combination of natural aptitude and careful practice. In Tussen records he lacks a surname, though when necessary it's treated as either 'Smith' or, laughably, 'Nonegiven.'
Seth's behaviors are best generalized as "peculiar." While he certainly doesn't act his age, at the same time he isn't exactly juvenile. He rarely speaks and shows a childish dedication towards whatever chore is at hand. He aquaints himself with his surroundings by touch - as a result, many a stove has scorched him, and when working he wears latex gloves to prevent troublesome fingerprints from being left behind. He's terribly secretive, but it's hard to tell whether or not this stems from loyalty or sheer forgetfulness; despite what might be said about he and his faulty memory, Seth never forgets a face and whatever associations he might have with it. He has a strange talent for mimicking voices and mannerisms, something that can occasionally be handy if he can't recall an actual name.Role-Playing Sample:
When it comes to alliances, he can be basely considered neutral. He doesn't care much for Valo because they often tip off authorities - he can't stand officials of any kind - but at the same time lacks the brutality that Intuneric is often credited with.
It's difficult to secure Seth's trust. Most of the time, he wanders from place to place in an innocent daze, but if you start questioning him excessively or even hint at suspicions, his mildmannered demeanor can suddenly switch to paranoid and violent. These spells of suspicion are few and far between, but afterwards it'll take him several days to go back to normal.
