The black fur was almost invisible in the dark reaches of Darksky's den. Her personal section received almost no light, but she understood that. Darksky rather enjoyed the darkness in the middle of the day. It was usually very cool as well. But, I can't just hide out in my den all day, there are herbs to be sorted, some of them need to be laid out to dry... she thought. Darksky wasn't looking forward to her duties, but the leaves needed to be out by sunhigh, or they'd never dry by nightfall. Darksky yawned and stretched. She had slept in, again, but nobody in the camp could care much. If they needed her, they would have woken her.
Darksky emerged from the shadows. Her blue eyes grew brighter as the light grew. She emerged in the main camp, and pulled her herb haul. Working quickly and carefully, Darksky laid out the leaves that needed to dry, and sorted the others. Done, she thought as the sun reached it's highest point. And now, I shall eat. Darksky padded toward the fresh-kill pile. She selected a mouse and carried it to the front of her den. She settled in and began to tuck neatly into the prey.

Brokenfang was having the same flashback that he had been tortured with for most of his days. He stirred in his sleep, clearly uncomfortable. He was back in the Medicine Cat's Den, 20 moons ago, and being told again and again... "You've lost an eye. You've lost an eye. You've lost an eye...." A badger appeared out of nowhere and began to lunge at him when he woke up, panting, beads of sweat sinking into his fur. The bulky warrior let out a sigh as the real world came into focus, his emerald eye scanning the Warrior's Den. Seeing no one, he concluded that it was late into the morning, and clambered to his paws with a grunt.
After taking a deep breath, the marbled tabby padded slowly out of the den, squinting in the bright glare of the snow that enveloped the forest. He scanned the area for a familiar face, and caught sight of the Medicine Cat. She was young, only just thirteen moons, as he understood it. 'Maybe you can make a freind.' A flicker of hope glimmered in his emerald eye. 'Just maybe...' He took a slight detour to grab a piece of prey from the fresh-kill pile before joining Darksky. A hint of a smile appeared on his maw after a few seconds and he sat down, somewhat awkwardly.
'Say something, you fool!'
"Hey..." He lowered his head instinctively to avoid meeting the she-cat's eyes- a habit of his. "Hey there."

Darksky looked up at the sound of approaching paw steps. There, in front of her, stood Brokenfang, the warrior without an eye. Her mentor, Spottednose, had told her about how her mentor and she failed to save his eye, but managed to save his life. Spottednose had used it as a lesson showing Darksky, then Darkpaw, how medicine wasn't perfect. Darksky always felt that if she'd been there she could have saved his eye, but she wasn't even born when that happened...
"Hi," Darksky said in response to Brokenfang's uneasy speech. Perhaps he is having problems with other cats being mean to him or something, she thought. She looked around, her blue eyes searching for another cat that wasn't there. Oh, maybe he needs some kind of medical attention, and here I am looking for someone else.... "Um, did you need something?" she asked. Darksky was all business most of the time, but get her when she wasn't she was a fun cat to be around. But, being a medicine cat at so young, Darksky had her work cut out for her. No cat would respect the opinion of cat much younger then they...

Brokenfang wondered what Darksky knew of his... incident. She hadn't been alive when it had occurred, but he expected the Spottednose had used it to teach her something. Well, at least he would be a model for future Medicine Cat Apprentices. The marbled tabby grimaced at the thought. Was that what he was doomed to be remembered as? The cat who lost an eye? Not 'the cat who fought off a badger at ten moons,' or 'the cat who fought in many perilous battles for his clan?' Sure, cats who were lucky enough to have two eyes were asked tons of questions about their life stories. It seemed that others were so intimidated by his appearance that they just assumed that he was grumpy and stayed clear of him.
And now the Medicine Cat, unaware that he had the ability to want to start up a conversation, had automatically assumed that he wanted some sort of herb. He did his best to hide the hurt in his eyes, and attempted to look at her. However, he found that this was impossible. Perhaps it was the asymmetry of one eye against two that prevented it. Whatever it was, he decided that the time to conquer it had yet to come.
He did, in fact, have an issue that Darksky could resolve, and had planned to bring that up in the near future. Unfortunately, it seemed that the near future had turned into the present.
"Well..." He paused, wondering what term he could use to describe where his left eye used to be. "I've been having some issues with my scar." Yes, that seemed an appropriate term. "Snow has been getting into it, making it red and sore. The wound used to be well-sealed, but it seems that the snow has... opened it again. I'm concerned that it could get infected."

Darksky smiled up at Brokenfang. She, not as terribly vain as many of her clanmates, was not shaken by Brokenfang's appearance. She'd been taught since she was a young kit not to judge books by their cover, and that wounds were a fact of life. "Oh, of course, I have, um, some herbs that'll help, I think..." she meowed. Darksky cursed herself. She sounded terribly unprofessional and rather unconfident...
Darksky sighed. I can't do anything right... she thought and stood. Darksky walked toward her den, and went inside. Her black pelt disappeared almost immediately among the darkness. She poked around her herb stores, being guided by scent. She found the crisp scent she was seeking and grabbed a few leaves of marigold. She emerged from the darkness, blinked her blue eyes as they adjusted to the light. "Here, I've brought some marigold, they'll help stop any infection that could be forming," Darksky said to Brokenfang. She began to chew the leaves to a pulp, and gently spread them across his eye. "Come back every night, and I'll put some more on, at least until it has healed." Darksky settled back on the ground, she smiled warmly at the warrior, and turned back to her prey.

Snowpaw was just finishing his training, when at the end he got hurt.At a high speed he tripped and hurted his right leg. With massive fall and spins it hurt, really bad.Usually he would put up some pains but this one was kind of a killer for him.Slowly, gently he was now walking towards the medicine den.On the way back he thought who would he maybe meet. The one he would avoid whole this day,his master or maybe not.He usually goes there alot.'Maybe becouse of that medic cat, yeah probably.'He thought
At the entrance he almost tripped again. But this time on a moss, luckly he didn't.It was pretty close thought. He entered and said,"Hello, may I get my leg handled, please?"At the moment he knowticed his master Brokenfang and a medic."Oh hello master."He would rather avoid him at this rate becouse he missed something that he called.Just smiling to him hoping he forgot everything and waiting for the medic to respond. He was in better sittuations but, this one he didn't liked a bit.He just blow out a sigh for being nervous. That made it go away."So then..."Soon probably he would get taken cared off.

Brokenfang didn't get a word in edgeways before Darksky had left, so he simply stood there, regretting the fact that he had interrupted her meal. It seemed that there wasn't a thing in the world that he could do right. The bulky warrior bit his lip, wishing that his mind wouldn't torture him so. Did everyone have an insolent voice inside their heads that constantly judged their every move? He thought not. The fragrant scent of marigold entered the crisp leaf-bare air and he winced slightly as the cold paste was spread onto his scar. "Thanks." He muttered, averting his gaze.
He lifted his head in surprise as a young cat limped into the den- namely, his apprentice. Brokenfang felt a pang of guilt, wondering what Darksky would think of him- what mentors let their apprentices hurt themselves like that? 'Irresponsible ones.' "Snowpaw? What happened?" It was easier for him to talk to those younger than him, for some reason.
OOC- Blah post... sorry about that.

Darksky noticed the way Brokenfang seemed ashamed in needing medical attention and she smiled at him. She knew that most warriors were proud and hated asked for help from any cat. Standing as tall as she could, Darksky leaned her muzzle by the large tom's ear. "There's no shame in asking for aid," she whispered quietly. She didn't want him to feel like he was being scolded by some cat younger then he. "We all need help, guidance, and assistance." Darksky relaxed her muscles, falling back to her original height. She was small stature as it is, but standing next to Brokenfang, she seemed almost like a dwarf. Size isn't everything, knowledge is power too, Darksky reminded herself.
The sound of limping reached her ears. Darksky turned her attention immediately to the new patient. She gave Snowpaw's leg a good sniff, deciding that he'd pulled the muscle. Darksky dipped her head respectfully to Brokenfang, who'd probably want to share some words with his apprentice, before disappearing back into her den. Judging off of scent, Darksky pulled a couple of comfrey leaves, and some tansy leaves. Comfrey technically was used for broken bones, and tansy technically for relieving joint pain, nevertheless Darksky figured the two tangly bitter herbs would do well for the pulled muscle. She paused as she was about to exit her den and chewed the herbs to a pulp, giving Brokenfang time to speak with his apprentice.

It came as a surprise when Darksky lifted her muzzle to whisper in his battered ear- not an unpleasant one, but the feeling was foreign to him, as was the notion that someone cared enough to do such a thing. He managed a soft smile, but wasn't sure what the Medicine Cat expected his reply to be. What did one say after being spoken to with such kindness? He watched her leave, admiring the way she could switch her frame of mind from scars to hurt legs with such speed and ease. He always lingered on whatever was going on for longer than most. Some might call him slow, but he liked to think of it as being thoughtful.
He averted his gaze, seeing her intentions- to give him some time with his apprentice. He turned towards Snowpaw, a somewhat stern tone in his voice as he spoke. "I don't remember giving you permission to leave the camp." He was honestly more concerned by his apprentice's hurt leg than anything else, but he needed to enforce some sort of discipline. "I certainly hope this won't detain your training for too long." He glanced at Darksky for reassurance, feeling slightly more confident as he spoke, until he realized that he probably sounded like he was rambling on about worthless things that shouldn't have crossed his mind. This dampened his spirits.

Feeling cold air as medicine cat sniffing his leg felt good.Snowpaw was just staring at his mentor,Brokenfang trying not to answer. But he would have to explain himself."I've went out to train and...well I got clumsy."As another question came out so did the answer"Well...sorry about that but I didn't had to do anything else. And hopefully it wont stop me.I will try to recover as fast as I can.
His leg pains were a little easier now.He let out a sigh waiting for the medi cat to come back.Or should he follow her,now he thought. Then something came up to him"Wait...didn't you said you would supervise me today. You said it yesterday,or maybe something more important came up?"He asked that really intrested if he was true or not.Now his leg started to hurt more than it hurted before.'Why is this happening to me..?'He asked himself in his thoughts. He didn't know what hurt more, his leg or the fact that he wont train for few days.
Now he would put the gilt on his mentor probably. But he didn't want to say anything that would get him mad or something else. Now all he was waiting for was the medicine cat to say what is wrong and how long will he be off resting. It was really heart breaking for this young cat."So what is your opinion, how long will I stay, mentor?

Darksky had to stifle her mrrow of laughter. It was not professionally acceptable for her to laugh at the apprentice and Brokenfang. But she did find the two hilarious. Darksky emerged from the den. She hobbled awkwardly, seeing as her front paw was lathered in her poultice. Gently she rubbed the pulp on Snowpaw's injured leg. She sniffed at it again, wondering if she should bind it with reeds. It might heal faster that way, she decided and without a word she disappeared again into her den. Within the moment, Darksky returned. She placed the reed against the wounded leg and bound it there with a few cobwebs.
"That should hold it steady, if you rest today and tomorrow, you'll be ready for delicate training by the following sunhigh," she meowed. Darksky turned her blue eyes on Brokenfang. "You must make sure you don't push him when he is ready for training. If he stretches the muscle to much it could tear, and he'd have to stay off it for several days and unable to train for at least a moon."

The marbled tabby was pleased with the answer that he had gotten. At least Snowpaw hadn't been goofing off... or something. Whatever apprentices nowadays did in their free time. He glanced at Darksky, almost instantly averting his gaze as his green eye met her undoubtably very amused ones. He did not want to know what she was finding funny.
Brokenfang glanced at his apprentice with a mixture of mild surprise and confusion on his maw. "I said that I planned to take you out hunting, but why bring that up now?" His apprentice was one of the few- perhaps the only cat that he could converse with easily. This was most likely because he had simply spent a lot of time with him. He could be quite friendly when he had gotten to know someone. "Just get some rest." His mew, though somewhat gruff, had a gentle and kind tone to it. He turned at the Medicine Cat's words, and was pleased at what he heard. "I won't." He knew what it was like to be held back in training... though his injuries had prevented him from training for an entire moon.

Snowpaw felt chill on his wound at first when she layed down the herb but at second,it started to burn and itch a little. He started moving his leg up and down but little bit.It really was annoying, you cant scratch and it itches like hell."Hey what kind of medicine is this?It burns and itches at same time..."He just stared at both of them. His mentor gaved him wrong answer. This time Snowpaw was truly sure that he said he would supervise his training."No,you've told me you will supervise, not hunt.I've awaited you for some time and you didn't came.So I've started on my own.I was reckless and tripped...so here I am now, stopped to train this noon and maybe tomorrow."He lowered his head, being a little sad and a shamed. It was pretty shamefull for him to trip.Sometimes he runs so fast he cant see a thing.
"So...I cant train today...too bad.Well you are medicine cat, whatever you say is good.I think."Something amused her between these two.Snowpaw and Brokenfang.Proably their conversation. He approached his mentor and whispered to him."She amused by us or something?I dont like that a bit,it makes us look like clowns. And who is she,I didn't see her around here these days?"[/size]

Darksky let out that mrrow of laughter she'd been holding in. "It's a mixture of comfry and tansy," she meowed. "The comfry is good for breaks and tansy for stiff joints. The two in combination is good for pulled muscles." Darksky sounded extremely confident sharing her knowledge, like a warrior talking about hunting or fighting.
Darksky couldn't help her next comment. Apprentices should never back talk their mentor, and while it was Brokenfang's job to rebuke him, she was here and she might as well do it. "Snowpaw, apprentices listen to their mentors, and don't argue. Regardless of whether they are right or wrong. And if you can't keep still I'll have to give you a poppy seed to put you to sleep, then you'll definitely need tomorrow to recuperate from them." Darksky turned to give the appearance of going into her den to retrieve the poppy seeds.

Either Snowpaw was trying to embarrass him, or he was just going crazy. Brokenfang never made promises- too often something came up that prevented him from keeping them. He let the one eye that he had narrow. Not even his apprentice respected him. He collected a medley of words to form a retort, but stopped as the young tom stood up to whisper in his ear. He opened his mouth to tell him to lie down, but stayed silent as he spoke. First he was accusing him of something that he hadn't done, and now he was acting all chummy. The marbled tabby wasn't very good with understanding the thought process of young minds.
He was glad that Darksky had done the job of scolding the apprentice- he would have made a right mess of it, no doubt. A flicker of a smile appeared at the corners of his mouth as she threatened Snowpaw with poppy seeds- he would have done anything for one if he needed rest, as it had been moons since he had slept peacefully. However, most apprentice-age cats dreaded the idea of being 'forced' to relax, or sleep. He dipped his head in thanks to the black she-cat, inwardly relieved to have been spared of the task that she had carried out.
